Godson

 On April 29^th 2011, a baby was born to this earth

Givanni Thurner was the name that was given at birth

 Emily and William are the parents of this newborn joy

And now the younger brother of Isaac and Noah, oh boy

Blessed with these three boys, this family has grown

God’s most recent gift, Givanni will be added to his throne 

The time had come to make a choice

I answered your father’s question; it was your father’s voice

 “Will you be Givanni’s godfather?” he shockingly asked of me,

Filled with so much pride and emotion I replied, “Absolutely”

 Your eyes, your smile, all my love to compile

Tiny hands, tiny feet, I’ve waited so long for us to meet.

Perfect and innocent, you’re safe within my arms,

I’ll watch over and protect you; I’ll keep you safe from harm

 Christening day will arrive and I promise to guide your way

I look forward to remembering how cherished you looked in the church that day

 I’m looking forward to watching you grow

To help teach you things that you need to know

I’ll always be there for you, whenever you may need me

The greatest godfather there ever was, that’s what I’m going to be

You are my sweet, precious godson, Givanni

 This poem is my gift to you; keep it with you forever
